Soi Rangnam

Near my home, Soi Rangnam is a nice place to visit. The soi is rather unremarkable in terms of scenery. However, there are a few things that are noteworthy. Soi Rangnam is nestled between Victory Monument and Thanon Ratchaparop. The Victory Monument end of the soi contains a small shopping mall with the likes of KFC and a cinema. The soi itself is home to a number of restaurants, tailors, etc. Here are my recommendations:

  • Tony's House of Fasion
    • From time to time, I have had some clothes made in Bangkok. A neighbor of mine has a husband who works at a tailor at this shop. As such, I thought I would give it a shot. I had 4 pairs of trousers made and a jacket. The total came to 9000 baht which some would call a bit expensive. I have to tell you that the quality of the materials and the finished product were first rate. The service there was incredible. I haven't gotten such service very often in Bangkok. I sat and looked at materials with my wife. I had a free Singha while my wife sipped on a free water. I went back several times for fittings to ensure that everything was perfect. At the end of the day, I can say that it did come out perfectly. The tailor I am referencing is Sam. You can ask for him by name and tell him Brent sent you. I am sure you will be happy with the results.
  • Water Bar
  • Tee Sud Isan Inter
    • I did a google search to see what people thought was the best hamburger in Bangkok. Sometimes you really crave a good burger. After looking at loads of information, I was pleased to see that Tee Sud Isan Inter came up again and again. Not far from my home, I decided to give it a shot. Damn, that was one good burger. It is not characteristic of Thailand to ask an individual how they would like their burger to be cooked, but at this small restaurant catering to expats and locals ... I was asked. I have to say that the burger was on par with what you would find in the western world. The Thai food is quite tasty as well. The only negative aspect might be that the lights are too bright. It isn't romantic by any stretch, but it is worth it.
