While Panthip sounds like a wonderful place for electronics enthusiasts, be aware that the people that work there can be rather aggressive. Remember that there isn't any obligation to buy anything, and you can merely stroll around and have a look at the insanity of the place.

If you do need something, it pays to shop around. Prices vary widely from shops that may be just next to each other. Bring your haggling skills with you because this is certainly a place where you are going to need them. Be prepared by shopping around. While it might sound tedious, it is worthwhile to test each and every single thing that you purchase. IF that means sitting there and making sure that those 10 DVDs you just bought actually work and play in English or taking that wireless mouse out of the box, then that is all part of the experience of shopping at Panthip. Don't say you haven't been warned. You are unlikely to get any sympathy from a vendor should you return with a faulty product. It is very much a case of "buyer beware"!

Getting to Panthip:

While a taxi is usually the easiest way, the skytrain is convenient enough for most if you don't mind a 10 -15 minute stroll through Bangkok's busy streets. Take the Skytrain to Ratchathewi. Exit through #4 at the northeast corner of the station. From there, walk one block and turn left. Panthip will be about 10 minutes down on the right hand side of the street.
