The internet is a vast place with a ton of information about pretty much anything you want to know. Those sites that I have found most useful in planning my travels are listed here in the hopes that you too will find them useful.

Phuket Gold Coast

  • You will find a great deal of information about some of the places in Phuket that often get overlooked here. While everyone always goes on about the Patong and Karon beaches of Phuket, this site provides some details about Bang Tao, Kamala, and Surin beaches. Other lesser known beaches are also covered.

Lonely Planet's Thorntree Travel Forum

  • All sorts of questions get asked here. I regularly post under the name losing_touch in the Thailand branch. This is a good resource for those who may have some questions about their upcoming travels.

Padi IDC

  • Samui International Diving School - Worth a look if you are interested in scuba diving while vacationing on Koh Samui.
  • You should also check out Camille's blog associated with the same outfit: click here

Retiring on the Web

  • Practical information about setting up your own website and ways to make money doing it can be found here. It is informative, to the point, and well worth a read. The information provided is accurate and easily navigated.

Samui Weather Blog

  • An interesting blog with some practical weather information that should be of interest to those wishing to visit the Gulf of Thailand.

Silk Wheels

  • This is a nice site about cycling in Southeast Asia. There are specific trips highlighted. The author is currently working to add more trips. This is also an easy to navigate site that is visually appealing.

Sky Scanner

skyscanner

  • This is an excellent resource for finding cheap flights in Thailand among other places. It works in the same way something like kayak.com does. It includes the different budget airlines, and it is quite easy check several days.

Stickman's Guide to Bangkok

stickman

  • Stickman has been around for a while. For many, his weekly articles published on Sundays are a must read. Within his site are many valuable pieces of information about Bangkok. The readers submissions make for a good read as does his essay on teaching English in Bangkok.

Tales of Asia

toa

  • Here is a wealth of information about Cambodia. Details about traveling to Cambodia from Thailand are well put together. Also, readers submissions outline the routes as well. For anyone heading to Cambodia, this is an essential read.

TEFL Boot Camp

  • You will find a good resource if you are thinking about a career in the English language teaching area here. Also, there are some good downloads for interested people. It is free of charge and worth a look for those that are wanting to get into the business or brush up on some skills.

TEFL Daddy

  • Written by the same author as TEFL Boot Camp, this site provides some good insight into what it is actually like to make the big switch and teach English in a new country.

Tezza's Islands and Beaches

  • Tezza's site has some very well put together information about traveling in southern Thailand. There is a focus on the islands and beaches and great coverage of many lesser known islands. There are details and specifics about accommodation and orientation.

Thaitel

thaitel

  • This is the company I use to buy calling cards when I am not in Thailand. I have been using them for quite some time. They have a lot of different cards to choose from. Many of them have "happy hour" rates at certain times during the day when it is free to call Thailand. I have called for free everyday for 2 months in the past!
